Great deal, great alternative to the big named overpriced roof rack companies
I've owned two sets of the Malone Sea Wings for three years. Just bought a new car and needed a new roof rack. Was all set to spend some money on the Thule or Yakima systems, but happened to come across the new Malones on a car fourm.What a deal. Works great for 2010 Subaru Forrester
We purchased this roof rack along with the to haul two kayaks on our 2010 Subaru Forrester. It worked great!! We took the system on a 7 hour trip on the interstate for vacation and we didn't have to re-adjust it once! I like that they come with the key lock so you don't have to worry about them being stolen. My husband had them installed in about 5-10 min. We have also used the racks without the inno carrier to carry a canoe as well, no problems with that either! Considering this is a fraction of the price of most other car racks and WAY less than having the Subary factory crossbars installed I would give this 10 stars if I could!

Great value, a little noisy
I ordered from Amazon and just mounted the Malone crossbars on my 2010 Subaru Forester Ltd.I didn't want to pay the exorbitant dealer or Thule/Yakima prices for something I only rarely use. Malone bars were exactly what I was looking for.It's a very easy install. I highly recommend using the rubber spacers that are included, they will not only protect your roof rail paint, but also seem to provide a snugger fit to my car. Seems very solid and the built in locks are awesome. Just don't misplace those keys!I have been driving around with only the 50" bars and have no other rack system or accessories on it. I've noticed that the closer you put the front bar to the front of the car the more noticeable/louder the whistling. There is a very noticeable whistling wind noise above 25 mph. If the radio is off or at low conversation volume I can hear it until I get above 40mph. The whistling goes away but when I get up to highway speeds a low groaning/moaning...

Worked for me but use caution and common sense
I used this to haul a 75-pound, 74-inch-long flat-pack furniture box about 100 miles on top of a 1994 Toyota Camry, and it worked just fine. I had my doubts when I bought it. I lost an upholstered chair on the Washington, DC Beltway once -- tied it down with rope and it took off like a kite. But this Highland carrier did the job. When putting it together, save yourself some aggravation and loop the straps through the plastic bases BEFORE you attach the bases to the crossbars (the instructions tell you to do the reverse, which makes the threading next to impossible). The pieces attached firmly to the roof of my Camry, with flat metal hooks going on the sills of the open doors. Once the doors are closed there's no way the hooks can come out. Make sure the straps are tight before you close the doors. This can be a little tricky as there seemed to be some slippage through the buckles, but with a little tugging and wiggling they snugged up pretty well. Note that the rubber feet that fit on...

Works pretty well as a kayak carrier
I bought this bar carrier as an alternative to a very expensive and more permanent Yakima kayak carrier. This carrier worked like a charm once it was attached to the car. The hooks that are supposed to catch something on the door frame did not work with my Ford Taurus. There was nothing on my particular car I could tie the straps to, so I ended up improvising by using heavier tie downs, taking them through both doors, which left straps on the inside of the car, but it worked. The system seemed very secure on top of my car, and I attached foam blocks to the bars, loaded my kayak, and strapped it down. The kayak held securely with just the two straps-I didn't have to tie down the bow and stern to the front and back of the car. In summary, the bar carrier is a fairly quick, inexpensive, and secure way to transport a kayak (I'm sure it would work with lots of other things too).

Good rack for the price
I received the rack recently and ound it to be good quality and good looking for what it is. I don't really understand the previous reviewer's complaint. The rack is black and looks like a black rack. I'm not sure what else is expected. As far as quality, I would not say it is upper end, but I would reserve that designation for a heavy duty rack designed to hold a lot of weight. This is a light duty rack that will hold suitcases camping equipment etc. just fine. A nice aspect of this is that it is light enough that it is easy to put on and take off if you do not want it on your vehicle all of the time. Plus, for the price, I think it is an exceptional buy so long as you buy it within its use constraints.Follow-up: I have had the rack for a few months now and am very happy with it. Excellent cargo rack for the price
I was torn between the Yakima load warrior or the Curt cargo rack. The Yakima was twice the price of the Curt. Having already spent good money on the Yakima base rack I decided to give the Curt cargo rack a shot. It was delivered to my house in its original packaging. It arrived in great shape unlike other stuff that I have received in the past. It was a pretty big box and it was very light. I thought it was going to be heavy but wasn't. I also ordered the extension and the Curt netting. It was pretty easy to set everything up.The extension snapped to the cargo rack easily and all the holes lined up well. The cargo rack with the extension was still light and easy to carry by one person. It took me about 30 minutes to put this together and place it on my Honda Fit. The mounting brackets are little confusing at first. I followed the picture on the directions but it was wrong. I ended up playing with it for 10 minutes and finally figured it out.The build quality...

Best Rack for the Price!!!!
I received my Curt rack this morning, not sure what to expect after reading a review that a previous customer had posted. To my surprise the rack was everything I could have asked for and more. I have owned several other cargo baskets on previous vehicles that have cost me nearly 4x what this curt rack costs, so I was half expecting to get a cheap rack that wouldn't hold any cargo which is NOT the case with this rack. The previous review I had read also mentioned this being a cheap looking rack which is absolutely not the case. The design is much like that of significantly more expensive name brand racks, and it comes with a fairing to finish it off.I am so pleased with my purchase that I would recommend this rack to anyone who needs to carry light cargo on their vehicle. Great Rack Easy to install Using for Kayak
This Rack was easier than I thought it would be. It comes with four locks so people cant take it off, which most other racks you have to get those extra. It also is removable which is great for when I am not using, just loosen the tension screw and off it comes. Very secure to my roof. I have a 2004 nissan sentra, works great! much better than foam blocks by itself. And for the price you cant beat it. Got it within 1 day with the 3.99 one day shipping. Amazing product

Did not Fit 96 Honda Accord 4dr
Spent an hour trying to install this product. The settings in the instructions left the clamp too far away from the door edge. After trying to use different settings the clamp would barely hold, even after tightening. The "feet" did not rest flat on the roofline. I wouldn't trust this to get out of the driveway with nothing attached, let along a kayak. So I'm returning this for a refund. The box it arrived in was WAY too big and had partially been crushed.

Used rack to carry my 2 windsurf boards
I recently bought the Malone HandiRack inflatable roofrack. I opted over a permanent roofrack basically because there are no Thule or Yakima racks that will fit my Saturn car. So I thought I'd give this one a shot, plus I also thought that if I ever needed to carry something on my wife's car (or for that matter, my friend's or parent's car), I could easily use this rack as well. Plus given that roofracks create drag, then your gas mileage can go down, so I thought it would be another plus, that I can remove the rack easily. So I used the rack 2 weekends ago to carry my 2 windsurf boards to Cape Hatteras. The rack was easy to inflate and relatively easy to attach to the roof. Given that it was my first time doing it, and I read the directions carefully, so I'd say it took me about 20 minutes. Good alternative
Upon discovering that an aftermarket roof rack and kayak kit was going to place me in the $5-600.00 arena I opted to buy this inflatable one. I had my doubts about being able to cruise the highways at 70mph with a 14 foot kayak on the roof of my Murano without incident or traffic fine. Turns out this HandiRack can handle the job just fine. I have used them for several trips now with great success hauling 12 and 14 foot kayaks. I lash the kayaks across the tops and tie down the bow and stern with 3/8" parachute cord and quick release niteize figure9 carabineers. But bear in mind that with convenience and price comes a couple of down sides. 1) - As stated, rain will seep in your car when you are stationary. I read and knew this and still left the car out over night in a down pour with the racks on, took two days and two fans for seats to dry out. 2)- Fine dirt and sand collects between the racks and your paint job. A good product for it's intended purpose
The Malone HandiRack works fine. It is a little noisy like having balloons tied to your roof. It doesn't inspire great confidence, but it gets the job done. I feel I need to drive really slow with a 11ft. standup paddle surfboard on my Sequoia. I'm hoping it stays put and it should, but just a little hard to get used to. The great thing is you can take them off (and you should) when not in use. I'd recommend it for light use and not a replacement for a permanent roof rack.

Works Great
This Yakima roof rack system works great and I highly recommend it. I bought one for my Mazda 3 and have use it, along with a Yakima roof rack for 2 cross country ski trips (I live a Florida, skiing is far away). The rack hasn't shifted an inch and was relatively easy to install. Yakima has a product guide on their site to make sure you order the right pieces for your model car.

Poor security
Yakima really blew it when designing the security of their new towers and accessories. The lock engages a thin tab on the glass-filled polymer cover. Once the cover is lifted, the cam releases the tension on the Q Clips and the entire rack can be lifted off of the roof. With the cover locked, there are several pry points that can be attacked with a flat-bladed screwdriver or pry bar. The fit of the cover is very loose and it can be lifted about an eighth of an inch. I can also pry the cover with my bare hands enough to fit an even larger lever behind it.I owned a set of SST towers back in the mid-90s. The tensioning screw was pinned to the back of an all-metal lock body, and the lock engages the metal clip and also locks the tensioning lever. While the new Q Tower design allows greater adaptability to different roof lines and ease of attachment/removal without having to readjust the tension, once the plastic cover is compromised, say goodbye to your rack and everything on...
