challenging product with great potential
After spending most of my three years of grad school in the screenprinting facilities, I was anxious to create some sort of setup for myself at home once I'd graduated. As a couple of other reviews point out, the YuDu is indeed different from traditional screenprinting - the tools are different but the process is essentially the same with the major difference being the application of the photo-sensitive emulsion. And this is where the YuDu will make or break you. While in the end I'd give the YuDu a rating between 3 and 4 stars, mostly for potential, these have been the challenging areas for me along the steep learning curve:EMULSION:Applying the emulsion in sheet form (rather than as a liquid with what's called a scoop-coater, as you would in traditional screenprinting) has been the most challenging part of the learning curve for me (and most others, it seems). LOVE this press!
I typically do standard vinyl die-cut decals, but a friend asked me to do his soccer team's jerseys. I was interested in getting into vinyl transfers anyway, but was pretty put off by the price of some of the clamshell presses on the market. After doing a week's worth of research, I hesitantly settled on this press.I've used presses in the past, and I can absolutely say this is an outstanding press for the money. I haven't once regretted purchasing it; it maintains the appropriate temperature consistently and is a no-frills, get-the-job-done press. If you're looking to get into vinyl transfers, I would definitely recommend this press.

i am very satisfied with my heat press purchase, it works very well. the only problem was that when it came in, alot of the paint was already chipping off. a paper came with the press that said if you have any problems e-mail the comapny asap. so i did, with a picture of the chipping paint and sot no reponse. i havent tried anything after that, but it doesnt affect the performance of the press. but if im spending the money, it should be to standards i think.

Great for the money!
I ordered this product as a way to reduce the clothing expenses for my business. It heats evenly and works as advertised. The only reason I did not give a 5 star rating is that it took some trial and error to find the temperature and time settings that worked the best. Overall this product is worth the money, but be prepared to waste some materials til you figure out the best settings.

Great Start For Things To Come
I always wanted to do print screening, and this product really helped me to get started. Just follow the instructions and you can make magical things appear on your shirts haha... Great product! Only used up, I would say, about 20% of this starter (Mind you, STARTER) kit, and i've made about 8 shirts already. Pretty cool!

Comes with Everything you need.
This came with just about everything you need to start a Hobby Silk Screen workshop.I was planning on just doing Emulsion prints but it comes with Instuctions on Stencil, and drawing fluid and of course Emulsion. For $25 I'm not complaining. It would be nice if it came with Tranfer paper but that's easy enough to find. If you want to make bigger runs I suggest you buy more supplies like, Lights for Emulsion, Multiple Screens, Lots of Ink, A Nicer Squeegie, And an actual press for convenience.. which I'm planning on buying in the future but this is a very good deal for now... Especially considering how much you save.

Decent Product, But The Product Description is Wrong
So I purchased this a few months ago, haven't used it much because the ink that it comes with is not right. First the description says Black, Blue and Red ink. Well there was no black ink, only a shiny silver... not much I'm going to do with that. The blue is fine, but the red is too orange in color. So just know that when you get this product from Amazon.

Good enough for home use.
The starter kits Speedball produces have all you need to screen print things fairly easily. The instructions are simple (too simple) and all the products are work-horse quality, meaning that they are not fancy and may take some adaptation but function as they should. This kit gets 3 stars because I recieved both the original kit and the replacement kit damaged due to very poor packaging on Speddball's part. The first kit had the photo-sensatizer (which is needed to make the emulsion 'cook' when exposed to light, allowing you to create a stencil) open and both dry and spilled down its side. One of the inks had cracked and started to leak but that was minor. The worst of it was that the screen filler jar was open and spilled over everything (including the screen) esesntially making the kit useless. The second kit had minor issues with the sensatizer (which I decided not to use since I ordered a separate emulsion kit anyway) and the paintbrush had its cover put on wrong, pinning about a...

okay for beginners or small runs
I bought this just to run some shirts for friends band. It is just basics to start or run small production line. Screen clogged often so had to rinse about every 5-7 shirts. Some other items will be needed so don't expect to start printing right out of the box.

Thinner than the Ranger Product
This is thinner than the Ranger Product which retails at 16.99 and lighter coloured. I use it as a portable palette for my acrylic paint. It works well in that capacity as I don't have to wash it for days. When I finally fill the page up, I put it on a towel put soap on it and spray water and use a palette knife. Everything comes off easily and then I let it dry flat. Don't fold it as that's how you shorten it's life, keep it rolled in the carrier they sent when you're not using it or like me on the shower curtain with a fabric clip.
